One of my best friend's from 6th grade and I took a trip to Edward's Apple Orchard on opening day! Surprisingly I had energy and was in a good mood during the entire trip (pregnancy has been rough on me y'all), but maybe it was because I know she'll be leaving town soon to go back to college. Literally all my close friends are leaving me and it makes me so sad!
My favorite part about fall is definitely visiting the apple orchard. When I was at school in Chicago, people would look at me crazy when I asked for a slice of cheese on my apple pie! In Rockford, that's a normal thing to ask for. You can order apple pie with cheese on top or a scoop of ice cream on the side. Nothing is better than Edward's pie either!
Rachel and I ate in the little cafe - My picks were apple pie with cheese, a pulled pork sandwich, and cold apple cider. Rachel got mac & cheese, a donut, and cold apple cider. I couldn't finish my entire pulled pork sandwich even though it was SO good. This entire pregnancy I've had problems finishing full meals even if it's something that I really want to eat! I did finish my pie though ;)
I forgot to snap some photos of the half dozen of donuts I bought, the apple butter, and raspberry salsa. I'm addicted to spreading apple butter on my toast, and it's also 100% all natural. I've tried apple butter by other brands in grocery stores and it's just not as good as Edward's.
The barn shop has tons of cute little decorative pieces, fall/winter clothing, candles, soaps, and other food items. You can also buy bags of different apples (I tried to Blondee apples which were super juicy and sweet!) galloons of apple cider, and more. Most of the items are a bit pricey, but totally worth it because 1) you're shopping local and supporting a family business 2) they're unique and not many others will have them 3) the apple orchard is only open for three months, so if you see something you want, you better grab it! 4) most of the food items taste way better than a version you'd buy in a store.
I'm in love with the fall decor in all the stores. Today I went to Marshalls and Home goods and saw shelves piled high with fake pumpkins, apples, leaves, etc. Both stores AND Edward's also had a bit of Christmas decor too which is even better! I love the season of fall, but I love Christmas just as much.
I hope y'all enjoyed my first unedited photo diary! I think it's a little bit more unique than an outfit post. If you don't follow me on snapchat already, add me: @cailynhoward!
Hope you stock up on some fun fall pieces soon and drink lots of pumpkin spice lattes!
